Dr. Ravi Chari is senior vice president of clinical excellence for Nashville, Tennessee-based HCA, the nation’s leading provider of healthcare services. In this role, Dr. Chari leads the company’s Clinical Excellence program and Physician Leadership Academy, which develops physician leaders within the organization.
Dr. Chari joined HCA in 2008 as the chief medical officer at TriStar Centennial Medical Center. From 2009 to 2010, he also served as interim chief operating officer of the Sarah Cannon Cancer Centers for the TriStar division. In 2010, Dr. Chari was promoted to TriStar division CMO. In 2011, he accepted a role in the corporate office as vice president of clinical excellence, and was promoted to his current position in 2015.
Dr. Chari graduated from the University of Saskatchewan, College of Medicine and completed his surgical residency at Duke University and fellowship at the University of Toronto. His first staff appointment was at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. In 2001, he accepted a position at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and rose to the level of Professor (with tenure) and Chief of the Division of Liver Surgery and Transplantation. In 2008, he received his MBA degree from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt.
Dr. Chari lives in Nashville, Tennessee, and is married to Sharon E. Albers, M.D. They have two children, Danielle and Tristan.
