NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HCA (NYSE: HCA) today announced the acquisition of Urgent Care Extra’s Nevada operations, which include 14 urgent care centers in Las Vegas.
The 14 centers join HCA’s Sunrise Health System in Las Vegas, which includes four hospitals and four surgery centers. The purchase also includes six additional urgent care centers that are under development in the market.
“This acquisition adds a strong network of leading urgent care centers to our Las Vegas network and complements our presence in the market,” said Sam Hazen, HCA’s chief operating officer. “Additionally, the acquisition builds on HCA’s strategy to improve patient access to our healthcare system in the markets we serve.”
In 2014, HCA acquired 24 urgent care centers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area from CareNow. With this acquisition, HCA now has 65 urgent care centers in various markets.
The Urgent Care Extra centers provide a full spectrum of services, including on-site exams, laboratory testing, medical weight loss programs, occupational health services, sports physicals, vaccinations, workers’ compensation services and x-rays.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
HCA operates 168 hospitals and 114 surgery centers in 20 states and the United Kingdom and is one of the leading providers of healthcare services in the U.S. HCA caregivers were responsible for more than 20 million patient encounters last year, and approximately 5 percent of all U.S. hospital services are provided at an HCA affiliate. Eighty-five percent of HCA’s hospitals reporting core measure performance data to The Joint Commission for 2013 are on TJC’s current list of Top Performers on Key Quality Measures®, as compared to 36.9 percent of all TJC-accredited hospitals reporting 2013 data.
