HCA Completes Purchase of Mercy Hospital in Miami

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HCA (NYSE:HCA) today announced the completion of its acquisition of Mercy Hospital in Miami.

Mercy becomes a campus of Plantation General Hospital, an HCA affiliate in Plantation, Fla., and has been renamed Mercy Hospital – A campus of Plantation General Hospital. The 473-bed facility will continue to serve as a Catholic acute care hospital, owned and operated by HCA and will continue to operate in accordance with the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services.

“The addition of Mercy strengthens our presence in South Florida, enhancing our ability to meet this area’s healthcare needs,” said Michael G. Joseph, President of HCA’s East Florida Division. “The hospital has a long tradition of providing quality patient care, and we welcome Mercy to the HCA East Florida family.”

With the addition of Mercy, HCA’s East Florida Division now includes 13 hospitals, 12 outpatient surgery centers, an integrated regional laboratory and numerous imaging facilities, physician practices and medical education and training programs serving South Florida and the Treasure Coast.

HCA’s plans to purchase Mercy were announced last year. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
