Current Division President Margaret Lewis to Retire
NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HCA (NYSE:HCA) today announced the appointment of Robert F. Carrel as President of HCA’s Richmond, Va.-based Capital Division, effective January 1, 2014. Carrel, who has served as Chief Financial Officer of the Capital Division since 2006, replaces Margaret Lewis who recently announced she will be retiring after a 37-year career with HCA.
As Capital Division President, Carrel will have responsibility for 17 hospitals in Virginia, New Hampshire, Kentucky and Indiana. A search for a new Capital Division CFO is underway.
As CFO of HCA’s Capital Division, Carrel has been responsible for the division’s financial operations for the last eight years. Prior to that, he was CFO of HCA’s Fort Myers market from 2003 through 2005. From 2000 to 2003, Carrel served as CFO of Saint Vincent Hospital, a non-HCA facility in Worcestor, Mass. Carrel began his career with HCA in 1991 as Assistant Controller for Aventura Hospital & Medical Center in Aventura, Fla. He later served as CFO of several other HCA hospitals in South Florida.
Carrel earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Louisville in 1990.

Lewis has been a lifelong HCA employee who began her career as a student nurse at Chippenham Medical Center in Richmond. She earned promotions to senior-level positions as chief nursing officer of HCA's Richmond/Tri-Cities market; chief operating officer of CJW Medical Center; and chief executive officer of CJW in 2001, before becoming President of HCA’s Capital Division in 2004.
Lewis has a bachelor's degree in nursing from the Medical College of Virginia, and a master's degree in business administration from Averett University.
