He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of HCA’s Wesley Medical

years before taking the helm at Wesley Medical Center in 2006.
He received a master’s in both health administration and business
administration from The University of North Florida and a Bachelor of
Science in finance from Florida State University in 1990. He and his
wife, Elizabeth, have four children, three sons and a daughter.
“Hugh is a veteran HCA leader with over 20 years of experience in
multiple markets,” said Chuck Hall, President of HCA’s National Group.
“His operational and strategic insights, gained through progressively
more responsible roles will be a tremendous asset to the National Group.
We are pleased to welcome him to the South Atlantic Division.”
Thomas has been South Atlantic Division President since its inception in
2009. He began his healthcare career at Riverside Healthcare Association
as an Assistant Administrator. He joined Charter Medical Corporation in
1983, rising to Senior Vice President of Operations, managing 25
behavioral hospitals. Thomas joined HCA in 1992 as VP of Operations at
Coliseum Medical Center, later serving as CEO of several HCA facilities,
including North Florida Regional Medical Center.
“Jamie has been an exceptional leader, a colleague, and friend for many
years,” said Hall. “His efforts have driven operational and quality
improvements across multiple hospitals. He has expanded services,
improved quality and provided more access to care during some of the
most challenging times in the healthcare industry. We will all miss him
greatly, but wish him well as he moves to the next phase of life.”
