More than Three-Quarters of HCA’s U.S. Hospitals Included on TJC’s Top Performers List
HCA (NYSE:HCA), one of the nation’s leading providers of healthcare
services, today announced that 106 of its licensed hospitals in the U.S.
are included among The Joint Commission’s new list of Top Performers
on Key Quality Measures®.
More than three-quarters (78 percent) of HCA’s hospitals are on TJC’s
list, as compared to less than one-third (31.5 percent) of all
TJC-accredited hospitals reporting core measure performance data for
2014. Of the HCA hospitals recognized, 43 have been Top Performers
all five years of the program’s existence.
“The Joint Commission’s Top Performers recognition uses objective
data to determine the top hospitals, and we are proud that more than
three-quarters of our hospitals have been recognized for their
consistent achievement of high performance levels on key quality
measures,” said Dr. Jonathan B. Perlin, HCA’s chief medical officer and
president of clinical services. “We appreciate our colleagues across the
country, whose dedication to evidence-based clinical practices helps
ensure the best possible outcomes for the patients we’re privileged to
treat.”
TJC’s Top Performers program recognizes hospitals that attain
excellence on accountability measures related to evidence-based care for
certain conditions, including heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia,
surgical care, children’s asthma, inpatient psychiatric services,
stroke, venous thromboembolism, immunization and perinatal care.
